Unemployment is a state where by a country or a state populace is without work and they are busy seeking employment. Moreover, unemployment rate normally refers to the percentage increase or fall in the employment percentage of a country. Regarding this, the higher the unemployment rate of a country the poor the economy of the country and the higher risks it faces. Florida as a state of the United States is among the states faced with the highest unemployment rate. Arguably, as the unemployment rate of the United States falls by almost 9%, the unemployment of Florida as a state goes up by at least 11%. This is a risky situation for the economy of Florida and United States as a whole. This high rise in unemployment rate in Florida has adverse effects.

This paper highlights the consequences of unemployment in Florida after noting that it rises by almost 11%.

Firstly, unemployment in Florida will lead to rise in crime rate. Notably, employment is the state where by people has jobs where they earn their money for sustenance. However, unemployment means that the people would not have any source of livelihood. According to Feather (1990) lack of the source of livelihood is serious issue for Florida since people especially the youths would decide to take part in illegal actions so that they may earn a living. Relatively, they will indulge themselves in stealing and hijacking other people among the other illegal acts. This is dangerous for Florida since it will obviously result to be a no go zone with the rise in the rate of crime. Additionally, apart from stealing, the unemployed might also start murdering other people who have accumulated wealth so that they might acquire it for themselves. Crime is one of the serious consequences of unemployment in Florida.

Secondly, unemployment in Florida might lead to political instability. The political instability effect of unemployment of Florida might affect Florida as a state or the whole of United States. As noted before, most people have to go out and work so that they might earn a living to support their daily lives. However, if the people remain unemployed for a long time, they would lose faith on the government and rebel against it. Florida is big state in the United States and this would automatically affect the whole government. Political instability is dangerous since it implies that there would not be peace in Florida and the whole country. The unemployed citizens might come up with rebel groups that are against the government since they believe that the government is unworthy. Moreover, political instability implies that there would not be peace in the country as a whole. This effect from the opposition who no longer believe in democracy and due to that the might want to take power using force.

Thirdly, the unemployment in Florida will lead to exploitation of labor. Exploitation of labor is whereby the workers are overworked and earn low wages. According to Shames (2011), with the unemployment rate going up in Florida, this means that the available jobs would be limited to a few people. With this trend, the few people employed would have to work under adverse conditions and low wages. Normally, when the rate of unemployment goes up, the employers take advantage and threaten the workers that they will lose the job if they do not work. Regarding that, the workers have to follow all the things that their employers tell them so that their jobs remain secure. At any chance if the workers try to rebel to the demands of the employer, they risk losing the job since there are very many people out there read work. This situation might happen in Florida soon if the rate of unemployment goes up. However, the government can easily save the laborers from this catastrophe by establishing numerous job opportunities. Availability of more job opportunities mean that the employers would have to pay the workers better wages since there would be competition for laborers.

Moreover, unemployment in Florida would lead to increased poverty in the state and the whole country. The people of Florida like any other place depend on employment so that they can earn their income and make ends meet. Stone & Mccraw (2007) affirms that when one is employed, they are able to earn money, which they might use to pay house rents, buy food, and clothing. However, lack of employment means that there is lack of source of money. Lack of money is dangerous to any household and the society as a whole. Arguably, this would not only affect Florida but United States as a whole. With the increase in the unemployment rate, most people became poor since they live below a dollar per day. Notably, everything ranging from food, shelter and clothing demand money and when one lacks any of them, the society refers to them as poor.

Furthermore, family break ups is another effect of unemployment in Florida. Usually, a family relies on the father and mother to provide for them. Xu (2008) adds that providing for a family is not easy since requires the breadwinner’s employment so that they can earn money to support the family basic needs. Regarding that, lack of employment means that the family would not have money to support their daily needs and this result to differences. Relatively, unemployment in Florida would result to family break ups since there would be misunderstandings. When the breadwinners do are not able to meet the basic needs of the family, there will obviously be blemishes and this leads to conflicts, which later on result to family breakups. Apart from divorce, that affects the father and mother of the family, the children might break away from the family and seek refuge to the streets.

Lastly, poor infrastructure would be another consequence of unemployment in Florida. Notably, infrastructure comprises of the buildings and the roads that are located at a specific geographical area. The development of infrastructure of a certain area normally depends on the net income of the residents of that area since their taxes fund development of infrastructure. This implies that the higher the income of the people the more they pay as taxes and more funds are collected for development of infrastructure. However, when the residents of a given country are unemployed this implies that tax collection not there or low amount of money is collected. Relatively, Florida unemployment state would effect to poor infrastructure since there is no collection of funds for maintenances and development.

In conclusion, unemployment is a status whereby residents of a given place do not have means of income and they are busy looking for it.
